ABOUT MATT | THE NARRATOR

I used to wrestle competitively, was on the NJROTC physical fitness and completion drill teams, played football and spent a great deal of my formative life practicing different disciplines of martial arts. With all these athletic endeavors, it only made sense that I would pursue a life of…storytelling!?

As a child, I always had a voracious appetite for a good story and would establish long term dramatic storylines for my action figures and toys. I would often imagine scenarios where I was being pursued by giant monsters to get through the long summers of Florida heat. My hyperactivity eventually led me to an abundance of harmless shenanigans and mischievousness, until I was urged by administrators at my school to make the game changing decision of enrolling in drama as my elective.

After the 'theatre bug' bit me, I became consumed with acting as my medium for storytelling. I began devoting myself to it in every way that I could—building my craft in class, performing in school plays, achieving the highest marks at both district and state competition for acting (Florida Thespian Festival), and serving as Drama Club President by my senior year. But another wrinkle of my storytelling came from working in TV production. I had worked my way to become both the Director and Lead Anchor of my school’s TV News program. Winning multiple awards and competitions for both narrative storytelling and comedic sketches, had validated my new penchant for filmmaking and aligned with my love for telling stories.

After I had fully hung up my football cleats to commit more time to all my artistic pursuits, another opportune moment would arrive for me to use my voice in a much different way. Since I was no longer interested in playing, school officials asked me to do the live broadcast play-by-play announcing for the home football games. I reluctantly said yes because I had never done anything similar before. Much to my surprise, I ended up throughly enjoying myself and I continued to broadcast other sports when my theatre schedule allowed. Being that I was both the school’s first student broadcast announcer and the Lead Anchor on the news, I started to realize that my vocal instrument was valued and to embrace my distinctive, vocal mix of raspy charm & pleasant rhythms.

I am well studied in acting and theatre, receiving multiple scholarships to every institution I have studied at including the Tony-Award winning Williamstown Theatre Festival as an apprentice and company member; The University of Florida’s School of Theatre + Dance, Bachelor of Fine Arts program; and Florida State College Jacksonville’s Theatre Performance program. I have worked on over 50 episodes of major network television on CBS, ABC, NBC, AMC, STARZ, & HBO among others, as well as several major motion pictures and indie films with some of Hollywood’s most recognizable names.

Outside of acting and creating, I love a good adventure - outdoor, traveling, competitive endeavors…Basically anything exciting or challenging, you can usually get me to try with enough convincing. I love traveling the world and adventuring thru life, in its many facets, along side my partner. I also, particularly enjoy bingeing TV & reading new plays with the wildly intuitive, guardian of the realm - Ratchet the tabby cat (a magical being of pure light). I am an avid fan of the NBA, boxing, UFC, pro-wrestling, and Florida Gator sports. I train with boxing at the center of my fitness, but still keep a healthy dose of martial arts, weightlifting, and wrestling into my regiment. Experimenting in the kitchen, obstacle course racing, puzzles, riddles, and hiking are other things you might find me enjoying.
